Popular Post webfact
Buriram monk didn't want to offend man who donated Ya Ba - so he succumbed Picture: Daily News A monk in the north east of Thailand told police he didn't want to offend an associate who turned up with an alms donation so he accepted it. Just one problem - it was Ya Ba (methamphetamine) and he was back to his old ways of doing drugs. Police heard his stories then after he was defrocked he was taken away. Pol Col Wachirawit Wannathanee the chief of the Sateuk station in Buriram got reports of rum goings on at the temple of Wat Ban Khok Muang. So he sent his deputy Lt-Col Samart Maisom to investigate. Locals had said that Phra Tawatchai had been going out at irregular hours and sequestering himself in his quarters. He had abandoned his alms round duties early in the mornings. The cop found Tawatchai behaving suspiciously and after a urine test came back with the telltale purple color local officials were called and a search of his quarters was made. Though no evidence was found Tawatchai admitted taking drugs and said that he had a previous offence for possessing 15 Ya Ba which had caused him to be jailed. After this he ordained and it was four years before a person called Kai turned up (it was someone whom he respected as a family member, it appeared). Kai donated some Ya Ba to him and Tawatchai, being someone who was concerned about causing offence he accepted the gift. After all he didn't want to break with the faith. He didn't do drugs every day he said in a further futile attempt at mitigation before he was taken away. RichardColeman
Seems to me the biggest insult to this religions followers, is the quality - or not - of its monks

ThailandRyan
As a monk I am sure he wouldn't want to offend an ex and not have sex with her if she showed up and offered it as an alm.....just saying. Lies beget lies, the man is an honorable lying drug user. Gotta make up a story instead of being truthful.
