Do I need online booking for retirement extension at Jomtien? And if so: How?

Featured Replies

I guess the title says it all.

Also, any idea if early next week, like Tuesday 9 Feb, will be very busy?

A appointment is not mandatory at Jomtien.

It should not be busy on the 9th.

Great, thanks Joe!

I was there last Monday at 12.15pm. Although the building was quite busy the retirement table was very quiet.

Only two in front of me.

No appointment necessary.

OK, for what it is worth, paying it forward: My visit report @ Soi 5, Jomtien!

I went in to do my retirement extension at 08:40 today, and was out again 09:00, but have to come back to pick up passport tomorrow afternoon. I did the bank letter, ID pictures, TM7 form and all photocopying/signing yesterday, so today I only needed to show up. No need to update bank book today either.

It was fairly quiet, and plenty of free seating available. 4 people in front of me at desk 8, with 2 IOs at work on the outside and 3 behind the desk. The former dealt with us in the queue doing our own extensions, and the latter seemed to handle bulk deliveries of passports from agents. Don't quote me on this, not sure exactly how they divide up the work.

Anyway, I am using the 800K in a FD account with BBL, and I never withdraw any money, so pretty straight forward. The usual TM7, bank letter and copies of bank book, passport copies and copy of yellow book for proof of address, all signed except originals. Nothing else asked for nor offered.

One difference this year was the A4 sheet explaining the "new" rules for the 800K (2 months before filing date = today, 3 months after and never below 400K), and I have to come back to show proof of this 9 May or later. Last year I was not asked to, and therefore never did, and nothing happened today. But I will not risk not to go in this year, even though I do not think anything would happen. No need to tempt fat for a very easy task, and no need to queue either, just go to desk 8 and show the documents.

Final comment: Jomtien is a very professional office, and the staff is polite, friendly and helpful. I noticed that they now also have a photocopier inside the office for those pesky forgotten copies. A nice touch!
