Short getaway suggestions.

Featured Replies

Hey troops, now that the restrictions have been lifted a mate and I are contemplating a bike trip to Phuket. Any input on where to stay would be great. We know Patong is toast but we are looking for decent (burgers and ribs) but not extravagant dining, moderate nightlife (just a couple of decent fun bars) and hopefully a Lucky13 as their passionfruit mojitos are the stuff of legend.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Kamala

beach side hotels, ( some with pools), beach side restaurants, lucky 13..beach views, and gh, good burger place, a dozen bars open, few tourists

As for me, Outside, would be a getaway during these pandemic times  ????

As others have said, Kamala is by far your best bet overall in Phuket.

All the bars, restaurants, grocery, and beach is in walking distance.

Short drive to Patong if you want to try out bangla or jungcelon.

Kamala of course !

Rawai of course!

Many people are moving down to Rawai from other areas for the excellent beaches, restaurants, cheap accommodation and buzzing nightlife. Lots of live music venues too! Come on down!

Rawai has beaches east, west and south!

It has many bars and restaurants open, and discounts/specials all over.

Head south!!

Rawai is fairly good place to reside on the relative cheap if you live in Phuket, have personal transportation, and have kids going to one of the international schools down there.

However, the only good beach near Rawai is Naiharn, and the Rawai “nightlife” is more of a local pub crowd and very spread out. One definitely needs a car/bike to get around in Rawai, and it is far from patong should you feel the need to try bangla road once or twice.

For tourists  looking to have a “short getaway” in phuket, the west coach beach towns are were you want to always stay. Location location location as they say.

Kamala is the best best west coast beach town OVERALL, even during non-covid days...but now with covid, its really the only remaining logical choice for tourists, as it remains mostly open.

It's actually good that you consider NaiHarn the only nice beach here, the more that think that the better IMO...????
