Of course(?) they are writing in 'thestar.com.my' just about 'coal-fired' power plants. Not mentioning it is lignite-fired, considered the dirtiest and cheapest coal which is very harmful to humans. - More information about the lignite-fired power plant Hongsa, adjacent to Thailand's Nan Province: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hongsa and about lignite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lignite There is already a c-f p p near Lampang, Mae Moh and an additional c-f p p near Tak, Mae Sot. - They might be responsible, at least partially for the northern air pollution. Of course, they will never be the root cause. ************* 10:00 Lampang AQI 222 / Mae Moh 197 Mae Sot, Tak 227 *********** Edited February 6, 2021 by Yom 1
milesinnz
It's going to be interesting when some of Cambodia's big brand name customers, when pushed by their retail customers, about only buying from countries with good environmental standards.. a lot of investment could soon be standing idle... 2

With respect, what has "trashing Cambodia unabated" got to do with two coal fired power stations in Laos??? The power generated will be purchased by Cambodia to boost existing supplies for domestic and industrial use. There are similar power stations in Thailand as Yom has described above. PETERTHEEATER
And how is this power transmitted from Laos to Cambodia?

High voltage power lines as in photo (taken in Cambodia 2017). Similar transmission lines also link Cambodia with Vietnam and Thailand from which Cambodia also purchases electricity.
