BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office has hit back at accusations made by the opposition in Parliament that the Public Relations Department (PRD) used programming on NBT to attack state antagonists and maintains an Information Operation (IO).

The claims were made by Move Forward Party MP for Bangkok Natcha Boonyachai-insawad, who also alleged NBT news programs sought to foment hatred against government opposition under the order of PRD Director-General Lt. Gen. Sansern Kaewkamnerd.

PM’s Office Minister Anucha Nakasai has since explained that as a medium for the government, the PRD presents news and information on administrative policies with the intent of keeping the public informed and often delineates between factual and misinformation to clarify matters of public confusion. He assured that it is PRD policy to remain neutral and work towards the best interests of the public, adding there are no other directives for NBT. Pointing out that the channel also uses independent correspondents who have shown integrity, Anucha elaborated on an assertion by the MP that NBT had fabricated a movement against the royal institution by saying claimants who took the matter to court have since rescinded their case.

Lt Gen Sansern also addressed the statements, speaking on NBT to say that the PRD is tasked with presenting facts for the benefit of the public. He stated that PRD officers are both civil servants and media members and uphold the integrity of the discipline, presenting information that is lawful and accurate.

The Director-General further assured his administration of the PRD does not benefit any particular political group or individual and he had received no orders from the Prime Minister. He explained that his use of social messaging application LINE to issue orders was a normal application of technology as seen in many organizations. He acknowledged miscommunications occurred in the application’s use but stated they were immediately remedied.

Slippery slope.

Just keep the trains running on time.

Seriously, he and his "government" can do whatever they want. Short of falling out with his manager, or another RTA faction staging a soft-coup (unlikely), you're stuck with this guy until he moves on to the Privy Council.
