French man arrested for drug use and weapons

Police in Phnom Penh arrested a French man on Tuesday, accused of drug use, illegal possession of two weapons and staying illegally in the country. Chroy Changva district police officer Major Ly Seng identified the man as Sebastien Baudry, 43, a French tourist staying in a rental house in Chroy Changva commune.

 

Maj Seng said that on Tuesday morning, Baudry smoked drugs at his rental house. At 11.30am, he became high and started destroying his Cambodian neighbour’s house. The house owner alerted the police for intervention. “When he saw our police forces, he ran quickly to take a gun from his rental house and attempted to shoot our police officers,” he said.

 

“Police surrounded him and arrested him,” he said. Maj Seng added that after his arrest, police seized an AK-47 rifle, one pistol and an amount of unused bullets from him, but did not seize his passport.

He will need the PP after he pays the "bounty" to get out of the country.
