COVID19 Insurance

Featured Replies

A question to the group.

Now that the fully Vaccinated foreigners are coming back to Thailand, hasn't the need for COVID19 Insurance been addressed?  Redundancy and not cheap.

????

Covid 19 Insurance is not redundant.  Just because one is vaccinated is no guarantee that one is no longer at risk of being infected or infectious.   No vaccine is 100%.  Even quarantining people is not a guarantee that the virus is contained. Just about everyday some who are in quarantine are testing positive.  The worst day was recently 23 people in quarantine tested positive on a single day.   I recently completed quarantine and feel absolutely that some kind of health insurance will be a mandatory requirement for anyone enters the country(even those who are re-entering).  Also, I see some kind of quarantine will be mandatory for the rest of the year.

There has been no changes done yet and I think it will be while before they eliminate it.

Yea but insurance premiums are calculated depending on risk. Do covid insurance companies face the same risk of a payout toward a vaccinated person as they do towards one who is unvaccinated?? I If not then I  think it is unfair that both should pay the same.

What do you think?

Can anybody tell me pls where to buy covid insurance?

I'm in Austria, enquired at several companies listed in Thai consulate website. Apart from one insurer all told me no insurance offered as Thailand is risk level 6 acc to Austrian foreign office.

The one insurer offering it is with 300% risk supplement which works out 20€/day.  Substantial amount for 90 days nonimm O single based on retirement. I understand I need health insurance as well.

Or can health insurance include Cov.19 cover? Was looking at insubuy which I found on the internet.

Tks for any advice.

I think you ‘tink too mut’ (and I’m not even Thai !)....

You are quite right though - but I doubt a profit making company would see it that way.

Thai said; before it was a requirement for entry to Thailand, I chose the same insurance *company for my Wife and Son that I later purchased when returning to Thailand. At the same time I purchased the cover for why Wife and Son I received a quote for myself, which remained the same after Covid-19 kicked off. So, I’m not sure if the premiums are adjusted for anything other than the standard determining factors (Age, Pre-existing conditions, amount of cover and excess).

Off Topic:

*I’m not naming the company because after receiving treatment covered by the insurance (direct settlement) I have since been told that I am not covered and have to pay the cost of the treatment back.

The reason being that they claim my treatment for an issue which was pre-existing - kind of like having a UTI but not being covered because I’d not disclosed I’d had a UTI 5 years ago...
