Bkk New Airport To Hualamphong

Featured Replies

Since the new airport's rail link isn't complete, what are my other options?

This will be during rush hour, and I'd like to avoid as much traffic as possible.

If I take a cab to the nearest subway stop to the airport (which is what stop?), and then take the subway to hualamphong, about how long should that take?

It might help if you allowed more than twenty minutes for somebody to respond.

At rush hour, all bets are off regarding timing. There really isn't a subway stop anywhere near the airport so you would wind up having to go into town and traffic regardless. If you have already bought into the idea of using a taxi, just have the taxi driver use the expressway and take you straight to Hualamphong.

Airport Bus AE4 also makes this run. 150 baht per person. Hualamphong is at the end of the run after going past the Victory Monument and Siam Square areas, so this is bound to hit a lot of traffic.

I didn't mean it in the sense of impatience when I wrote the 2nd message.

Even if there is no subway stop near the airport, what is the first one that I'd be able to come upon while heading into the city? I'm guessing the traffic gets worse the deeper you get into the city, so getting out of a cab and onto the subway as quickly as possible is my preferred route.

And how long would this trip take if it wasn't rush hour, using a cab and the expressway?

Taking the expressway in to town from the airport, probably Petchaburi.

Personally I'd avoid the MRT with anything closely resembling baggage as all bags are subject to search. But if you insist, take a taxi to Fortune Town (intersection of Rama 9 and Ratchadapiskek Road) where you can enter the Rama 9 MRT station. Your taxi can take tollways all the way Hua Lamphong, either via Bangkok-Chonburi Road or Bang Na-Trat Road.

we each have a backpack - so that shouldn't be a problem, unless we're delayed by a search

about how long would the cab ride be with no traffic? and is one of the routes you mentioned for the cab a better one to take around rush hour?

what about getting on at on nut, transferring lines at sukhumvit, and then to hua lamphong?

any guesses on how long from airport to on nut?

what about getting on at on nut, transferring lines at sukhumvit, and then to hua lamphong?

Sukhumvit is torn up beyond On Nut for the construction of the SkyTrain extension. Best avoided.

thanks ovenman. we'll stay away from on nut.

last q - is the majority of the traffic usually headed into the city (ie between teh airport and somewhere like rama 9), or within the heart of the city (ie around hua lamphong).. sorry if it sounds like going overboard, but I don't have much time to get from point a to b. I don't care about paying a cab the full way - as long as he gets me there in time!

1.why not simply give arr. times and airline and what train your aiming for (so we know alternatives)

2.a daft simple alt; ALL trains also stop at samSen (10 mins after) and then bang Sue=20 mins after, bang Sue is the OTHER end of the rot fay fa taay din= subway, this may also save precious time.

3.yes, entry to subway there is military searching all at all stops

4. the CLOSEST stop coming from airpt is ram IX and is, with some luck (and traffic on THAT section on MOTORway is NOT often much congested 24 hrs), doable from airpt in 20 mins or even less by taxi. this is to the ''garage'' of the subway and halfway between both ends.

you need COINS to get a chip that acts as ticket for it.
