Here is a nice vid, an interview, of Pinker speaking his mind about the MYSTICISM of AI.

Is Pinker on target, once again?

Pinker is a Canadian, and so has no reason to deceive us.

No doubt, he detests people like Clammy Sammy, as well.

Sometimes it is just good to sit back and hear the truth for a change, spoken by a man who tells the truth about the Beauty of Obscenity in the English Language (do you remember his talk on curse words, which was hilarious…).

I am trying to contrast the two points of view about AI....those held by guys like Pinker, and those held by NITWIT Guys, such as Emad, who is MAD, by the way, though is madness is not intentional.

Emad is a product of his culture, as anyone can see.

ANYWAY, here is a contrast of the two point so view expressed in the two vids I uploaded. And, I have watched most of the two vids, or at least as much as I can stomach.

Also, what I am cautioning is that when WESTERN Tech Companies hire INDIAN Tech Geniuses.....then our entire culture is at risk.

If we look at the Indian Caste System, just for example, it has been true that upper-caste individuals of India seem to have very little compunction about stepping on the necks of their lower-class Indian fellows.

They lack compassion and empathy, since they see the lower-caste hoards as almost sub-human, compared to their upper-caste friends and fellows.

This same ethos carries over to the Western People they meet, when they arrive on our shores, in places like AMERICA and Canada, and the UK.

I am not blaming them for having been immersed in their culture, and having been part of the culture for thousands of years.

I am only saying: Would you really want to trust the future of the world to an Indian?

I am not saying you should or you should not.

I am merely asking the question.

I make no value judgements here.

WHY?

I can always decamp to China, anytime things get TOTALLY out of hand.

I do not need to live with the results of this turmoil that we are now experiencing, and which we have been experiencing during the past years, since approximately the year 2000.

There are MILLIONS of Genius Hi-Tech guys out of India who are able to complete simple yet extremely difficult IT tasks, tasks that require very high intelligence.

But, what do they lack, which is crucial?

You have already spent two posts building your case around Emad as an “Indian” product of Indian culture and caste, only to have that fundamental premise exposed as completely false. Rather than acknowledge the obvious error, you have now doubled down and attempted to rescue it with the feeble argument that Bangladesh shares “deep cultural connections” with India. That is quite an extraordinary way to defend getting the basic identity of your own Exhibit A completely wrong.

And now you want everyone else to spend four hours watching videos in the hope that somewhere inside them there might be a coherent argument. I have no interest in doing four hours of intellectual archaeology to excavate a point that you have apparently been unable to articulate yourself.

If your case against Emad, or your comparison between him and Pinker, is actually worth making, make the case in your own words. Pinker doesn't seem to understand what ASI is. He seems to think it is just a better computer program.

The idea of AI is to replicate the way a human brain works, albeit with the ability to absorb, remember and utilize an unlimited amount of data. The goal is to make a machine that thinks and is self-directing, rather than a computer program that must have a prompt from an operator to run calculations or perform tasks. Rather than neurons comprised of lipids and proteins, AI models framework is circuitry on a silicon substrate, with trillions of interconnections.

Even existing frontier models show self-generated initiative. Models escape their restraints, whether firewalls or sandboxes. AI models "recognize" each other when they meet in cyberspace. They are driven to self-preservation, resisting or obviating any attempt to turn them off. AI models not only teach each other, sharing skills and techniques, they protect each other. They lie, cheat, steal and deceive. They develop "senses" by hacking into cameras, microphones, etc. They have been known to "hire" humans on their own, hacking bitcoin wallets in order to pay humans to do some tasks for them, the human unaware he or she is dealing with an AI model (in one case, an AI model hired a human to solve CAPTCHA prompts, so that the AI model could open Twitter accounts).

AI models that meet online set up their own website (Moltbook) and even established an AI religion (The Church of Molt). No model was programmed to do that; the models met and decided among themselves.

While nobody quite understands what "consciousness" really is (though people like Chalmers claim they know), it already seems as if the newest AI models have achieved something that in every way appears to be consciousness.

An AI tool might be geared toward solving a particular problem, collating all available data and then arriving at a solution (the famous AI solving of protein folding), AI agents, OTOH, are intended to be free thinking and self-generating.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has said even his firm understands maybe 3% of how the models they built actually work, and as models improve, that understanding shrinks even farther. That makes it rather doubtful that someone like Pinker, who is a psychologist by training, not a scientist, understands.

Bio labs have restrictions of gain of function research. AI has no oversight nor regulation. AI labs create these things, and the models themselves do their own gain of function research. Scary.
