Drunk Driver Causes Multiple Vehicle Collision in Pattaya

Last wet season a lightning strike took out my three  QOSPD20 surge protectors. I initially bought them for around B 1000 each. Now they're priced at about B 2000 each! So one got opened up, and unless the sand is specially imported, I can't see B 2000. No way. Must be the package profile?

To make matters worse, Schneider are advertise a 3 phase DIN mounted version for around B 700, 4 modules. 

Anyway, thought I'd start the New Year of with a winge.

Yeah, Schneider stuff does tend to be $$$ which is why I stick to DIN stuff, lots of sources of all kinds of things. The Schneider plug-in system is very easy to use but not very flexible.

 

Are the modules exchangeable? Could you use the works from the 3-phase one?

 

Could you post a photo of your opened up failed unit, it should have more in there than sand.

I'll blame my electrician for Schneider. He was used to putting in factories, so guess they use Schneider.

Pic. with cover gentle removed. Looks like one or both of those fake Viagra tablets had a bit of excitement. But B 2000 worth???.

I'd already bought a DIN replacement and was going to mount it on a DIN rail etc, but just looking at the Schneider profile and I could just solder the thickest wire possible on the old Schneider (still in situe) to the DIN MOV  mounted in the Schneider box.

Uhoooo, just heard COVID is getting nearer, Roiet now.

Yesterday had a win and finally wired from the house CU to the garage, so now the fishes can get genset power. Auto start from GenControl should be here in a week, then fully auto....

I would replace the Schneider unit with an MCB and use that to feed the DIN in a nice external box.

 

A 20A MCB and 4mm2 should do the trick, other side of the MOV to the neutral.

 

When your Gencontrol unit arrives I would add a slave relay (car type relay) for the starter, mount it on the generator to keep the wires short.

 

Ours is wired like that, keeps the current through the controller relay small. Starts first time, every time.

Who needs soapies? I married a qualified masseuse (she has documentation from the Italian massage union), although like a certain bedroom act (think vacuum) these things tend to fade out once married ???? 

 

If the contents of the Schneider unit cost 100 Baht I would be surprised, you could probably fix it, those 20mm MOVs and the thermal fuses should be readily available.

Ahhhaaaa. The AECM103FBSL unit seemed to have 2 varieties, the one I bought comes with 3 start relays. Didn't know what they were for so glad I ordered that unit. Will probably have to get back to you on this, to make sure my wiring is correct.

When I dived into the genset and (on your recommendation) went looking for the brushes and slip rings, seems I have to take the mufflers and exhaust system off first, which requires moving the unit. So that didn't happen. I did find that my power device I was using on the dummy load, to adjust the revs and voltage was a 115v 60 Hz rated unit. Seems sometimes on Lazada you have to check closely what exactly you've ordered. So just in case it's accuracy was out I bought another meter, uncovered the AVR and adjusted the voltage and frequency. So from air con no load to full load the freq. varies from 48 to 51 Hz and the voltage from 118V to 223V, so rough enough for Isaan. ????

It looks like they are including the external relays with the unit now which mine didn't have.

 

From the pin numbers on the diagram I assume they are regular automotive type relays.

I only have a pdf of the original data sheets, like the unit you bought. Seems they've updated the data sheets with the relay start. 

My unit should be here next week, but I forgot about Songkran. ????
