“All three stood as MPs on the Tory manifesto and had intense leadership battles where their ideas were tested”. Maybe so, but the fact (uncomfortable for Tories) remains that a vote for the next leader (PM) was confined to Conservative party members and MPs , around 40,000 . This means that approximately 1 in 1400 of the electorate had a say in their choice for PM. Hurrah for democracy! All together now: “Three more years, three more years !“
