Its too expensive I may leave
If you think Thailand is too expensive you need to get out and see the real world. Spend some time in Europe, spend some time traveling around, spend some time in the US for God's sake. The inflation is out of control in the US is it is now more expensive than some of the major capitals of Europe. Thailand is still quite reasonable. -

Car Cuts Off Ambulance Twice While Transporting Patient from Khon Kaen to Chonburi
This breaks the bounds of common decency on so many levels, you have to be self-absorbed to a rather mind-boggling degree to not allow a few seconds to let somebody who might be dying get to the hospital quickly. The penalties for this kind of reckless behavior should be severe. I suggest revocation of your driver's license for at least a year, confiscation of the car for a month, and a 300,000 baht fine to be paid immediately or levied on any real property that someone owns. Somebody has to put their foot down. One of the super weak, and morally bankrupt authorities has to stand up and say something needs to be done. -

4 Dead as Passengers Ejected from Vehicle, Grandfather Protects Injured Grandson in Crash
The crash occurred on October 15, on the Sa Kaeo provincial road between the permanent border crossing at Ban Khao Din and Khlong Hat (Highway SK.4058). Pol. Lt. Ekkawut Phetsombat of Khlong Hat Police Station responded to reports of a head-on collision involving multiple casualties. Upon arrival at the scene in Khlong Hat District, authorities discovered a black four-door Isuzu pickup truck, its front severely damaged and blocking the road. Inside the vehicle, rescuers found 68-year-old Mr. Leochai, the driver, injured but clutching his 5-year-old grandson, who was also hurt but still in his arms. In the front passenger seat, Mrs. Somsri, 65, Mr. Leochai’s wife, was also trapped and injured, with another grandson, aged 6, suffering injuries inside the vehicle. Rescue teams rushed all victims to Khlong Hat Hospital. The other vehicle involved was a gray Toyota sedan, which had crashed into a sugarcane field beside the road. The driver, Mr. Thanakorn, 41, was found injured and trapped inside his car. He was promptly taken to the hospital. Tragically, four Cambodian nationals were found dead near the Toyota, having been ejected from the vehicle on impact. The deceased included Mr. Lua, 43, another unidentified man in his 30s, and a 5-year-old Cambodian boy. Initial investigations revealed that the Toyota sedan, carrying five Cambodian nationals including the driver, had been traveling from the Ban Khao Din border market towards Khlong Hat, while the pickup truck was headed in the opposite direction. The accident took place on a secluded stretch of road lined by sugarcane fields, where the vehicles collided at high speed. Authorities are continuing to investigate and will interview both drivers before filing any charges. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-16 -

(Tang Chhin Sothy/Pool Photo via AP) The United States Department of State has released details of a conversation between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, held during the ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos. Representing US President Joe Biden, Blinken attended the summits and met with various leaders. The discussion with Prime Minister Paetongtarn took place before a formal meeting, as noted on the US Department of State’s website. Blinken expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to engage with the Thai delegation, highlighting the long-standing alliance between Thailand and the United States. “There’s a powerful shared history, a foundation of shared values, and a commitment, both bilaterally and through ASEAN, to better the lives of our people,” he said. Blinken noted that the partnership covers areas such as inclusive economic growth, joint security challenges, climate change, and the transition to clean energy. Prime Minister Paetongtarn affirmed Thailand’s positive relationship with the United States, stating, “We have a very long-term good relationship, and we can always discuss anything you wish to pursue. I believe we can move forward together on future projects.” She then mentioned the recent flooding in northern Thailand, describing it as the main issue the country is currently facing. “The north of Thailand is experiencing daily flooding, although it’s now beginning to recover,” she said. Blinken acknowledged the concern and assured that they would discuss the issue further, along with other topics of mutual interest. The leaders expressed optimism about continuing their collaborative efforts in addressing these challenges, reported Thai PBS. -- 2024-10-16 -
