The British Embassy has announced that UK Visa application centre (VFS) will be closed to all customers between 15 June and 20 June 2007. The VFS centre will accept applications up until the close of play on 14 June and will reopen on 21 June. Applications received from w/c 11 June may not be returned until 25 June.

This is going to have a serious impact on people making plans around that time as it seems that alternative arrangements are not being put in place.

The following is a quote from the notice referred to by Governor:-

...and to continue to meet service delivery commitments we need to ensure our systems and legislative frameworks accommodate all our stakeholders' requirements.

Can any Blair-speak experts please translate this in to English?

Scouse.

"We'll be rigging the statistics to prove that nobody can possibly have any serious grounds for complaint."

It means that the IT systems do not work, rules and regulations are not followed and they need to reorganise and train the staff with new systems that hopefully prevent misrepresentation and misinformation at the vfs office (like telling the wife of an EEA National that needed an EEA Family permit for 4 weeks that she needed to apply for a visitor visa as she could not apply for a EEA Family permit for that)

Just to show how little BE Bangkok knows on that matter (as on so many other matters)

As a fan of VFS I can only say closing the place right down like that is bloody annoying, luckily not going to affect me personally but some people have planned their yearly holiday around getting their gf/wives visas and are probably going to be very annoyed - the embassy should have made the concession that people who are married to Brits could apply directly to the embassy during this closure period.

I would just lodge with the embassy and if needed refer to the dsp best practice, most people will be able to wait, technically their is not external partner for a week and hence it is handled by the embassy.
