May 7, 20215 yr Thapae Walking Street road, aka Rachadamnoen Street, is now one way. Thanks the gods that someone in government is a genius. Don't you hate streets that go both ways? I know I sure do. Why on earth someone would want to come down the same street they just went up is beyond me. And parking in the middle of the road? Brilliant! And what is that sliver of road to the left, you ask? A BIKE PATH, of course. And yes, it's only one lane too, so up you go with your bicycle (built for two, I hope) and then have your private van awaiting you at the far end to pick you up and take you to our private helipad and back to Sardinia. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of bright ideas. Anyone have any guesses what's next?
May 7, 20215 yr Popular Post And there was I thinking that "Walking Street" meant it was for, well, walking ???? "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
May 7, 20215 yr When I rode up the street today, there already was a truck parked, blocking the bike lane. This works very well right now, as it's almost deserted. But God help us if it's still in place when tourists are back. It will be total chaos.
May 7, 20215 yr Popular Post I predict the bike lane will become reserved parking for the shop owners/staff.
May 7, 20215 yr That is one of the busiest street and in the city center, how can they make it into a one-way? It will take longer to go around the city.
May 7, 20215 yr Popular Post The bike lane: not to worry ... signs saying "Bike Lane" will soon go up. Remember the ones on the Iron Bridge at the end of Loi Kroh ? I have it on good authority the bike-lane and signs are sponsored by the Northern Thai Orthopedic Surgeons Association, and their associated hospitals. The Loi Kroh trial-run was a smashing success that generated several million baht in medical revenues in only six-months, including 14 spinal fractures, sixty-two compound femur/tibia fractures, one-hundred twenty-seven broken arms, fifty-seven concussions, ninety-two fractured skulls, fourteen broken necks, four hundred and eleven maxillo-facial injuries requiring reconstructive plastic surgery, three thousand fifty-six other miscellaneous injuries. Local bike shops, as well as casket makers, and crematoria, are reported to have had a satisfying surge in repair and replacements. ~o:37;
May 8, 20215 yr Author Some of the parking spaces appear to be for tourist buses. Interestingly, there are no spaces painted for motorbikes.
May 8, 20215 yr Looks like a blind 2 year old painted the lines. My daughter just asked me why? And she is part Thai and doesn't understand.
