THAIPHUKET
This is for a wheelchair user who is retraining walking. How to add a handrail some 7 cm higher without welding again. Length is 8m. What non-metallic, weatherproof material to use? https://photos.app.goo.gl/g3fBkg7UJYq4mCtg6
CharlieH
You could add a 3 inch timber treated/varnished handrail, bolted through the steel.

Might have to get some clamps made up to clamp to the pipe if drilling isn't an option. Timber handrail should be easy enough to obtain ???? bunnydrops
Buy some pipe hold downs (U shaped). put those over the pipes and into a board wide enough and thick enough for what you need on the side of the existing handrail.
bankruatsteve
Could you just raise it? Like with bricks.
sometimewoodworker
Careful of using dissimilar metals as you may cause the stainless to rust as well.
VocalNeal
Sounds daft but get a SS gate guy to weld another rail 7cm above the first? Should take him all of an hour. Edit: The non welding bit just registered. Two pipe hangers bolted together and the top rail could be blue PVC. The ones on the left. Any local pipe shop. Exact design depends on what local pipe shop has. Edited May 29, 2021 by VocalNeal
steve187
you could cut the uprights and add a piece in, either weld in the same size of pipe or a bigger pipe which goes over the original, maybe even some thicker grade blue pipe of the correct size bolted in place

Maybole
I suggest using plastic water pipe of a suitable diameter. t usually comes in 4 metre lengths and joining pieces are available. Plastic clip on clamps can be screwed to any nearby wall or railing.
