Just out of curiosity, what do the people who blindly supported those in charge and viciously criticized those of us who dared to question either the handling of this recent wave or the vaccine production / rollout have to say at the moment?

"Frustration"  I wonder the frustration they feel is the same I a old man getting older when I have a problem, sick, just want to get treated instead I get the head toe coverage go over as to how much this old ATM can we get out of him.

????The sooner the private get their personal batch the sooner they can make their deposit regardless of what the government has stated. ????

So if the private hospitals are 'frustrated' they need to be making much more noise.  They've been way too quiet.  A lone doctor here and there speaking out just isn't cutting it.  They need to band together and get loud.  Real loud and now.

I think it's kinda cute that people think the gub'ment officials actually make the decisions in Thailand, or that replacing them would solve the problem.

They're just the public face of the real power, operating under the "silver or lead" incentive plan.  Do our bidding, and there will be plenty of silver for you at the trough.  Don't, and you'll get the lead.

Easy enough to replace them with someone who goes for the silver.  We read about it every day, whether it be a hail of bullets in their driveway, or ridiculous prosecutions for something they said at a protest 2 years ago.

The USA is literally giving away millions of doses of vaccines and they can't find enough vaccines to even inoculate 1% of the population? I have never seen incompetence and corruption at this scale. They are even incompetent at corruption.

The US State department just sent the assistant deputy to Thailand and gave $30,000,000 million US dollars for COVED aid...HUM! Lets see...giving away millions of doses and giving $30,000,000 million US dollars in aid.  Lets do a little math. The population of Thailand is about 70,000,000 people, if you take the $30,000,000 USD and divide it in to the Thai population it looks like this 70,000,000 / 30,000,000 = 2.3 million USD per person. Hum, that should be enough to purchase the best vaccines that is offered, don't you think? I would like to see where that money goes.

not sure how you get to that figure, $30mil,  if they were 30mil people that would be $1 each, so 70 mil would be $0.42 each

Your math skills are in need of improvement. How about 43 cents per person, or 13 baht.

Shockingly stupid, since Pfizer-BioNTech was already getting great results.

Thailand signed a deal with AstraZeneca to have Siam Bioscience make the AZ vaccine in November last year. What a coincidence!

Remember when we all agreed how lucky we were to be in Thailand during this pandemic?

THe envelope was delivered to the wrong place? THat's all.

Private hospital administrators and doctors are growing increasingly frustrated with the government’s vaccine rollout and lack of transparency, sources told Thai Enquirer on Monday.

Every time I read one of these it only reinforces my belief that people are foolish to every believe that government run healthcare is a good thing.  In the USA not one government agency is efficient and does not significantly blow through budgets.  In the private world you have to compete, be efficient, and respond to your consumers.  With government, no matter how inefficient or inane they can't be fired and there is no incentive to provide either good customer service or to lower costs.

I look at Thailand at it was only recently that the government approved allowing private hospitals to order vaccines on their own.  Now this is a government that is suppose to be aggressively tackling Covid.  What could possibly be the reason to drag your feet in allowing the private hospitals to obtain, vaccine and inoculate people.   They are private so it costs the government no money, time, or effort and yet they threw up a prohibition for months.  Its like there is a ship sinking and the government won't allow private vessels to provide rescue to survivors because they are not part of the government.

Thomas J, I suggest that you talk to expats from countries like the UK, Scandinavian countries and Germany, to name but a few European countries with what Americans call socialised healthcare. I think you will get an entirely different viewpoint to your own. I suspect that the majority of users (and payers of the necessary taxes) in such countries heavily support their national healthcare systems and stare in amazement at the amounts of money that Americans waste on overpaid health providers for comparatively substandard healthcare. Even more so at the fact that so many Americans cannot and do not afford decent healthcare.

I used to work in an international accounting/consulting firm. I was based in London and recall that the US Government paid our US healthcare finance consultants to send a team over to the UK to find out why Brits paid one-third less on average for healthcare than their own people and yet had a higher rating of outcomes and heath status in the population. [I retired before that study was complete, so never did find out what the conclusions were, though I could guess it was a factor of profits and pay].

NHS waiting list hits 14 year record high of 4.7 million people  (Published 15 April 2021)

Pressure is growing on the government to take urgent steps to tackle waiting time figures for the almost five million people seeking hospital treatment in England—a number that has reached a record high.

The latest referral to treatment statistics1 from NHS England published on 15 April show that 4.7 million people were waiting to begin treatment at the end of February this year—the highest number since records began in 2007.

Pfizer and Moderna need to be stored at very low temperatures with special equipments. It's not stored inside normal fridge.

Do you think the staff are skilled enough to control the temperature at all times? In Thailand's hot weather, those vaccines aren't practical for mass vaccination.

From the time it is taken out of the very cold special fridge to the patient's arm, the mRNA has been rendered ineffective.

It may be suitable for first class private hospitals in Thailand where the nurses are first class and equipments first class.

They can't even get the vaccination registration and delivery right. Do you think they will get the very low temperature right?

Yes I know. I wrote this with some sarcasm and intentional mistakes (math)America offered a nice gesture however falls short of real help for the Thai people. $30,000,000 USD where will it go? Who will it help? Hospitals? Clinic's? We don't know because there is no transparence here in Thailand.

Look deeper, t who owns the company (Siam BioScience) that should be making the Astra Zeneca vaccine.  There is a reason why this company cannot be criticised nd why it has been awarded the contract when it has no experience of Vaccine making.

Too much face to be lost for anyone to admit that there might e something wrong.  Do you imagine that the QC department will be allowed to reject any faulty Vacine made by SBS
