The displaced Burmese suffer from grim humanitarian conditions due to the repeated airstrikes by the Myanmar army on some villages in the Karen State, southeastern Myanmar, near the border with Thailand. Karen State is encountering fights between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), an armed ethnic group that has controlled the mountainous southeast of the country, and the central government army since 1949.

It is mentioned that the United Nations has warned of an increase in the number of internally displaced persons in Myanmar, where more than 121,000 people have been displaced due to armed conflict and insecurity in different regions of the country since the beginning of 202, most of the displacement occurred after February 1, when the army seized power.
