Prime Minister Hun Sen said recently that timber seized during illegal logging raids should be used to prepare coffins for Covid-19 victims so that they are put to rest with dignity. National Committee for Forest Crime Prevention spokesman Brigadier General Eng Hy told Khmer Times on Sunday that 4,000 cubic metres of timber are earmarked for the task. Head of National Committee for Forest Crime Prevention General Sao Sokha told Khmer Times last week that he is carrying out the orders of the Prime Minister. “It is not luxury wood that we chose for the coffins. We chose only simple wood because luxury wood will be auctioned for the national budget,” Gen Sokha said.
