Sanook reported on an incident where a man was shot at a place used for training cock-fighting chickens in Kranuan police jurisdiction in Khon Kaen in Thailand's north eastern region.

Kranuan police found kitchen items scattered about the kitchen area. Near the stove was a pot and some duck ready to be chopped.

On the floor was Chaiwat, 46, a local teacher. He had been shot six times with a 9mm gun in the torso, left side, leg and wrist.

He was still clutching an Itoh kitchen knife that had been shattered in the gunfire.

The shooter was Phanomporn, 46, who fled the scene. He was a former engineer in Bangkok who had gone home and turned into a person who offered loans.

Yo, the owner of the cock fighting place, said that the pair were "pheuan rak" - the very best of friends.

They had been drinking at the market since morning and decided to continue at his place where they were going to prepare some "lab pet" - spicy raw duck.

However a violent fight developed over a 5,000 baht debt that the victim had owed to the shooter for three years and hadn't repaid.

Unable to fight back Chaiwat picked up the knife being used to chop up the duck but Phanomporn went for his gun.

Later Phanomporn gave himself up to Kranuan police and they took him to try and find the gun he had discarded.

He was taken on a reenaction of the crime and prepared for prosecution.

so the article doesn't actual say that Chaiwat was dead at the scene... just laying on the ground hold the knife...  gawd - loaned a brother in law 5000 bt - ain't ever going to get it back as he is sick - had some same deal - 3-4 year old loan for 5k baht to some guy - sure wouldn't think of killing him over a measly 5k baht  - just one for the cause that one - bro in law ...so they were "best buds"  oops

I've read many times on this site of people being killed over 100 baht or not much more. Life is worth nothing here, especially if you cause someone to lose face.

Best friends ... until money destroyed that friendship .

All is limited in time , friendship , too .

If , ever , you have a real friend who needs money , just give it , never loan it .
