Thailand will discuss FTA with India in Phuket this month

Thailand and India will open negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) again by the end of this month in Phuket province.

The Deputy Director-General of the Department of Trade Negotiations, Mr. Chana Khanarattanadilok, comments on progress of the India-Thailand Trade Negotiating Committee (TNC), saying Thailand will host the 12th conference between May 28th and 31st in Phuket. He says the committee will discuss ways to reduce tariffs and promote trade between both countries. They will also discuss sanitary measures, investment, and other trade mechanisms.

The negotiations have come to a halt for about a year. Recently, both sides held a meeting on April 3rd to 5th in New Delhi, India, and they have agreed to push forward the bilateral deal. The TNC aims to finalize the FTA negotiations within this July.
