I want to avoid traveling to Bangkok until there is some significate  decline in the covid numbers !

Knowing that, is it prudent to start a DS160 application for my family online now or  should I wait !

Interviews at the embassy are way behind. Also you can change the interview date if you want to a later time.

So your suggesting to start  the DS160 App(B1/B2 visa).  !

I'm Curious when does the Biometric requirement  start before the interview ? Where does one get this done ,at the embassy ?

I started the DS160 months in advance, and glad I did. A few questions about her family required some research, and the people we needed to talk to weren't readily available. Get it done, save a copy to your computer, and take care of the other stuff when you feel comfortable.
