Cardiologist to monitor American in mid-70s who recently had a heart attack

Featured Replies

A friend of mine, currently in the U.S. to visit family, friends and get the Covid vaccine recently had what he's calling a "cardiac incident" and installation of a stent in the U.S.  He asked me for a recommendation of a cardiologist in Chiang Mai, one who could monitor his progress once he returns in September.  Apparently, he hasn't been seeing a cardiologist here in Chiang Mai, but he has had other treatments at CM Ram and would prefer to see a cardiologist there.  Normally he returns to the U.S. once a year for a couple months, so the Chiang Mai doctor would have to be able to produce reports that would be helpful for his doctor in the U.S.

Any recommendations?

My wifes employer is in this boat, sees a Specialist at Ram, will try to get contact details

I had a stent put in a Bkk/Cm hospital several years ago -

It really was not that big a deal - 20 minutes in and out of the OR - - and I don't recall that much monitoring going on afterwards... just taking some meds... and a few check-ups to monitor...

All that said - I think his name was Dr. Thannawat... and he was the best - excellent English as well - I would say definitely worth the 100 baht [or whatever] price of a taxi to go see him...

Dr. Konlakrit Khienprasit at the Bangkok Hospital/CM cardiology department.. Diagnosed my coronary heart disease and has been proactive in follow ups to ensure no worsening.  Concluded stents for my blockages not possible and has been treating me medicinally and I see him every 6 months. I walk the Maejo and other golf courses and feel fine….

For these cardiologists (as well as other specialist) can you make an appointment by calling their office directly or do you have to go through the hospital entry process first?

All the hospitals in LOS I have been in they require you to register first, no matter who you are seeing.

For their database I imagine.

You are given a card, present this the next time for any meds the Doctor prescribes.

Hi Khun Nancy,``

I believe in the past you have posted here recommending Dr. Thanawat at Bangkok Hospital. click ?

If I could afford that hospital's fees, he'd be my choice.

cheers, ~o:37;

Yes, I've recommended Dr. Thanawat, but my friend would like to see a doctor at CM Ram.

Dr. Wannakorn at CM RAM performed two coronary angiographies on me and I was quite pleased with her service. Excellent English. These were about seven and five years ago.
