Man falls down in middle of Bangkok intersection - taken for Covid test

Daily News reported on the latest case of a person suspected of having Covid-19 falling down on the streets of Bangkok.

The latest case at the Wisut Kasat intersection in the Nang Lerng police jurisdiction in the downtown area of the Thai capital came after several cases last week featuring two people who died and two who had coronavirus.

Police corporal Phatraphoom Phoomsak told Daily News that himself and a colleague were hesitant to help the 35-40 year old man because they were not wearing PPE.

He said that he had had a fever for several days then experienced chest pains as he crossed the road and collapsed.

Rescue foundation Poh Teck Tung were pictured at the scene taking the man to Sirirat hospital.

As the pandemic in Thailand spirals out of control - especially in the Thai capital Bangkok - stories of people collasping and lying unattended in the streets are gaining traction in news reports and comment around the world, notes ASEAN NOW.

Whether they have Covid-19 or not, these cases are going to do nothing for the image of Thailand abroad after ambitious plans to reopen the country were announced by Thai PM Prayuth Chan-ocha in June.

Did he visit a doctor?

Few people just fall down for no reason. And if they are sick they should see a doctor and/or stay home.

This is like a horror movie, just when it gets to the scary bit

So that begs the question why he didn't seek medical help, a test or anything?

I wonder how many are seeking medical help and being turned way.

The Grandparents of one of my Son’s school friends went to the Hospital, quite unwell with symptoms of Covid-19. They were turned away - the hospital was full.

The issue is the utterly idiotic policy of hospitalising all cases, not just the ones who really ‘need’ hospital care.

Thailand needs to undergo some ‘intelligent triage’ -

-

- Those with Covid and no or minor symptoms who can isolate at home, do so.

- Those with Covid and no or minor symptoms who can’t isolate (i.e. live with others) ago to an government funded quarantine facility (or hotel quarantine facility)

- Those with Covid and strong symptoms admit to hosptial

Its not that difficult - but all along Thailand thought they’d get away with it and over reacted to the minor things leaving themselves vulnerable to the bigger issues and risks.

Thailand pretty much ignored vaccination - either they tried and simply couldn’t get hold of vaccines early on, or they simply thought they wouldn’t need them as they locked out the world and the world cured itself.

Anyone ever think that he just didn’t have the money to see a doctor. I’m sure that is the case for many Thais now. Sad.

Also, maybe he didn't fancy being locked up in a Covid prison if tested positive.

Over a year ago, some doctors came out and said that low blood oxygen sneaks up on people with Covid.  They don't know they're in trouble until they're really in trouble.  I suspect that's what got this guy.

If you haven't already bought a pulse-oximeter, this may be a good time to get one.  In normal times, they're about $20USD.  I paid the Amazon "scalpers" $80 for mine, but that was over a year ago.

I believe they're avoiding going to a Doctor because of the immediate 'treatment'.

Nobody wants to be locked up in a room full of people breathing out COVID 24/7

Such an environment doesn't sound like the ideal place for recovery, delivering many freshly produced virions from other patients directly into your lungs with each breath you take.

I have a quality one of those oximeters, I bought it long before Covid. It shows me all the time that my blood oxygen is low...

It could be possible that he suffered from a minor stroke or mild cardiac event such as a non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).  He definitely needs to see a Dr.
