Popular Post Almer
There is an epidemic in Issan in-fact all over Thailand that is as dangerous as Covid, i will call it THEFT BY THOSE IN AUTHORITY up until today a serving police officer had my respect throughout the world, they see bad things yet should always be there to serve, well no more Mr plod you are on your own in my book. Today for the first time in 6 years i was told to pull over behind a group of pick up's for an infringement at a junction 60 mtrs back in the direction i have just come, my turn to be spoken to and after a salute and a conversation with Mrs angry i was advised i was in the wrong lane at the junction, not wishing to be disrespectful i asked how that could be when there are no lane markings at said junction which was met with a gesture to go and pay in the tent along with many others. 400 baht Mrs angry was told and Mrs angry does not part with 400 baht easy, she asked if we should all go back to the junction ( all meaning the 20 other motorists now) queuing to happily pay which fell on deaf ears, Mrs in no uncertain terms explained we were not going to pay 400 until the video ( if there was one) was played, i was in the correct position as were those behind me and i expect those who had already been stopped. So its stand off time, wait over there said the cashier, i mean police officer, nope Mrs now savage stood her ground and a figure of 200 was discussed and not wishing in these times of Covid to stand amongst people frothing at the mouth was agreed, cashier held his hand out Mrs asked for receipt which was met with a big sigh from cashier, no receipt no money and can call sergeant to come, stand over there, no she says you deal with me first and there is now quite a few queuing, a man in the Q also at this point confirmed there are no lane markings at this junction, with that and it getting heated in the tent with some wanting to get on there way a receipt was fore-coming from a now angry cashier, on leaving i asked if they were interested in my diving licence insurance vehicle tax visa 90 day report passport etc etc etc i was waived goodbye but no salute this time. an epidemic that is strangling thai nationals in these difficult and frustrating times, if i did wrong an apology is in order and if this deserves 400 then so be it which will help central or local government, but 200 and a receipt from a new book leads me to think it may well not end up going to the place the law intended. As i said Mr Bib you are now on your own should you ever require the assistance of the general public don't bother to ask me especially if i am with Mrs now very angry. 3

Popular Post Denim
I was pulled over by a policeman once in Khon Kaen. I took off my helmet and he asked if I knew what I had done wrong ? Nope says I shaking my head. He then pointed to a sign indicating I had just ridden the whole length of a one way street in the wrong direction. I apologized and explained I had not seen the sign. OK he said. But now you know so be more careful next time....off you go. And that was it . No fine just a salute. There are good ones out there.
worgeordie
Well the police have got to get it where they can, with so many other avenues of cash flow shut down , they must be getting quite desperate . regards Worgeordie
Nojohndoe
I have had a standoff situation at a checkpoint over a bogus claim of infringement. End result was a negotiation down from 200 to the 90 baht of loose change in my pocket. I did however get a receipt for 100 Baht and some laughter that was not entirely sympathetic. stubuzz
I was stopped and told that i crossed a solid white line changing lane on the entry to a toll booth. I explained that is not possible as did not change lane as asked him to show me some evidence. The cop showed me my registration number he scribbled on his notepad. I just laughed at him and asked if he would like to see my dash-cam footage. He then gave me a verbal warning not to do it again and walked off.

Gold Star
I was once stopped in a Pattaya afternoon checkpoint for riding with my passenger footpegs down. 200 baht. Meanwhile, other Thais rode by with no helmets, no licence plates, no lights, 3 up, etc. LOL
