Kanchana, 40, from Bang Saphan, said she had just invited some friends over for a bite to eat and some drinks.

She was charged with breaking the Covid-19 emergency rules.

The police warned people about gatherings of five and more in the province that has deep red zone restrictions, reported Banmuang

So the limit is actually 4 people then, not 5?

Yeah it's very confusing. I've seen so many news with arrests e.g. in Chiang Mai 7 people drinking in a rented villa. But the limit is no gatherings of more than 20? We cancelled our company party because of this random enforcement, even though we're under 20 people and not in a dark red province.

So there were 5 people there....

[The regulations “Ban on gatherings of more than five people”]

These people were doing nothing wrong - gatherings of 5 people are allowed.

So... I wonder exactly what their charge was for, as the charge itself maybe illegal.

if they didn't draw attention with the loud music and keep lights down they maybe would have got away with it.

Got away with what ?

If the limit is now 4 - thats being broken on a daily basis by the majority of the nation !!

Anyway - the limit itself is utterly moronic... IF they want to make a regulation which is more sensible it should be along the lines of, no visitors from outside of your household.

If their neighbour wasn't a ' grass ' they would have got away with it.

Good to see that there are still locations where laws are enforced. I am tired of empty words in the news...

Yes great - hope they're jailed. How dare they have dinner. The music after 9pm might wake up the sleeping coronavirus..

It is not like this. We all suffer and we all have to suffer even longer if some people don't care.

Wanna try that again ??????

... The article is poorly translated (no surprise, a common mistake) , the Thai media https://www.banmuang.co.th/news/region/244990 quotes in Thai "Should not gather in groups of more than 5 people because Prachuap Province is a dark red area."

You have assumed the article is correct and that Thai reporting is accurate... and we all know what happens when you assume... you make an ass-of-u-and... well, just you actually....

The police were wrong - gatherings up up to 5 people is not against any current law or regulation under covid conditions for ‘dark red zone’ provinces.

so it looks like - up to 5 people is legal.    Therefore I hope that group tore up the report and ignored the fine.
