Cambodia. A drunk military officer crashes his car into a motorcycle, killing a girl

A military officer yesterday plowed his car into a motorcycle, killing a girl and injuring two others in Phnom Penh’s Kamboul district. The traffic accident occurred at 1:40 am early morning when a drunk military officer sped his car, plowing into the motorcycle, knocking off the rider and his friends along National Road 4 in front of Snguon Pich pagoda in Kantouk commune.

 

The three victims were on the motorcycle from the west to the east on national road 4, and then they were hit by the car driven by a military officer named Yon Rithy, according to police. Police said that a 17-year-old girl identified as Srey Chhay died instantly at the scene while two others who were a rider and a pillion passenger sustained critical injuries.

 

Rider Phanha and Srey Nith,17, pillion passenger, got severe injuries. The trio lives in Kandal province’s Ang Snuol district. Kamboul district police chief Colonel Hang Mony that Rithy also flouted the traffic law and curfew to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
