Hi everybody,

According to the regulation,

"Nationals of specific countries may apply for a visa upon arrival in Thailand. Travellers with this type of visa are permitted to enter and stay in Thailand for a period not exceeding 15 days. They must present evidence of means and a return ticket. Application for extension not normally permitted. The 20 countries are: Bhutan, China, Taiwan, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, India, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Maldives, Mauritius, Oman, Poland, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine. "

I'v got everything except thai visa because I planed to apply for visa upon arrival Thailand, but got stuck at airport immigration in the end. :o

Could anyone tell me why China immigration customs in airport/ports do NOT allow Chinese to depart from China without a visa? Thanks.

That page doesn't say about visa on arrival.

Besides, I'v called the Thai consulate in Shanghai, the staffs there told me I can go to Thailand from HK and other countries without a preparative visa except from China. Why the difference?

I would think because there is a consulate in Shang Hai

I see Lop here ... bet he can field this better ... but the VOA program is for people where there is no consulate nearby in their country. Thailand provides a visa exemption for people from many countries. If it was the airlines that would not let you board it may have been because you didn't have an onward ticket in the right time frame.

The rule seems to be in China - not Thailand - so asking airport might help. But that airport is an exception to normal visa rules per this blurb from IATA and what flavor of travel document you use makes a difference (at least for transit travel.

Applicable at Shanghai Hongqiao or Pu Dong airports:

if holding Hong Kong (SAR China) or Macao (SAR China) travel

document passenger require a special travel permission.

I can't go through the immigration without a visa, not concerning with the airline; the thai consulate told me I can go through the immigration without a visa if I depart in HK or other countries. But unfortunately..not in China.

I just wondered why the difference? They disregard the VOA regulation or sth?

That would be China's decision and have nothing to do with anywhere else. Thailand's policies on admitting you do not seem to be a factor in China's decision to let you leave.
