According to a Pasaxon Newspaper story, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, as well as associated sectors, held a conference to propose solutions to the city's long-standing problem of clogged wastewater drainage systems. For many years, foul-smelling standing water and overflowing sewers have been a chronic problem in the capital. Xiengyeun Village, Oup Mong, Nong Douang, Nongbouathong, Phonkham, Hong Kaikeo, Phonphanao, Viengchalern, Thong in Anou Village, Khouakhao in BeungKhayong Village, Dongpalan-Hong Kae, and Phonthan are among the Vientiane neighborhoods with wastewater drainage issues.
