Featured Replies

In a case of gamekeeper turned poacher, the former director of the Anti-Drug Office of the Takeo Provincial Gendarmerie, Chhun Somethea, has been charged with trafficking over 2kg of drugs. Also accused is a female accomplice named Ken Chanry.

During the hearing today at Phnom Penh Municipal Court, the accused categorically denied that he had committed any of the alleged crimes – stating that he was a military officer in the anti-drug unit, so there was no reason for him to commit a drug offense.

However, his female accomplice admitted the charge, saying that she and the accused were drug dealers and had sold drugs to an anti-drug police agent. The pair had been originally apprehended on the evening of June 4, 2020, at the Sokimex gas station in Stung Meanchey commune, They had been arrested at the gas station by police of the Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Interior.
