Brazil v Argentina stopped due to a row over falsified COVID documents.

And it looks like Romero and Lo Celso went to Brazil in defiance of Spurs orders. That was a waste of time and now they are in the poo poo

Apparently Buendia and Martinez said they had been playing for Estonia Villa????

Two weeks in the Malvinas for them ....in a tent with ration packs please!

In all seriousness, Internationals need binning in the current climate. Brazil is 'Red' therefore players need to quarantine on their return to the UK. Now it looks as if, according to Brazil anyway, players from UK must quarantine there before they can even play a game, yet they still requested clubs to allow their own UK based national players to travel there! God knows when Villa/Spurs players can play for their clubs again, and a similar situation will occur in a month or so.  FIFA fat cats will no doubt take no notice but it is now becoming a total farce.

Latest reports are saying 5 clubs will have their Brazilian players banned for 5 days for not allowing them to travel to the game. LFC, Chelsea, Man U and Citeh players affected and Utd/Chels players will miss a CL game as well as a Prem League game.

Leeds also affected. Other clubs include Wolves, Newcastle and Watford as players from other nations also banned.

Complete joke....Just have to hope UEFA or the ECA have the balls to stand up to FIFA on this one!

Absolutely. There has to be room for accepting mitigating circumstances whilst individual governments are invoking travel bans or insisting on quarantine. If the nation hosting the game have quarantine restrictions in place, they should be told to move it to  neutral location, allow players attending to avoid quarantine after tests or accpet thos players can't attend.

UK Government could have shown some common sense as well by exempting players from quarantine if they pass a test on their return. Boris Johnson & Common sense is not a good fit though!????

Why should football players get special/different  treatment to everyone else ?

Why should everyone else have to 2250 Quid in a ten day hotel quarantine and people who kick a football about don't have to ?

If its OK for football players to just take a test , then it should be OK for everyone else

They are ordered to go by their respective FA's....they are not on their holidays. And there are exemptions already in place eg: for government employees.

Just heard on TalkSport that the Brazilian FA won't ask Everton to ban Richarlson from playing because they "have a special relationship" with Everton!! Something to do with him playing in the Olympics. This is truly farcical and FIFA should tell Brazil to do one

Yep. Was laughing at that  in our thread yesterday. Makes a mockery of the rule when they are allowed to pick and choose who is affected.

The quote below is from the Brazilian manager.....Flies in the face of the stunt his FA have pulled!????

“A fair decision is to respect laws, a fair decision is first and foremost the health of people. The fair decision is that the sport is important, but it has a scale of importance in which health is above, the laws are above.”

Hearing on TALKsport that Liverpool, Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Leeds are all going to stand together and defy the ban. I really hope so. You can't have the Brazil FA telling us who can play (Richarlson at Everton) and who can't play. Ridiculous. Liverpool V Leeds will be interesting if they both have to forfeit their game ????

And how come Newcastle, Wolves and Watford got away with not sending their players?

Don't need to defy it as Brazil have finally backed down.

  • 2 weeks later...

Alisson, Ederson, Emerson, Thiago Silva, Fabinho, Fred, Gabriel Jesus, Raphinha.

All called up by Brazil for next month????

  • 3 weeks later...

La Liga have cancelled games this weekend involving players late back from South America. Something Premiership should have done but they, and their money grabbing Sky/BT partners would have vetoed that idea!????

Got to disagree on that one mate.

We play Burnley at weekend. Why should they have to cancel playing and risk future match congestion because City haven't got a player or 2 back from International duty? We don't cancel games because players <deleted> off to African Cup of Nations mid-season. It's a pain but that's why you have squad's. That and I want the prem back. I hate International breaks as it is and there's another next month. We have a PL season to get on with. ????

La Liga have buckled because the big clubs will have insisted on it. That league is crooked, so wouldn't like to follow their stance.

Agree to disagree....especially as the spanish get an extra break before next week's Champs League fixtures. As usual, English clubs involved are at a disadvantage.
