The government is proceeding with development campaigns for the utilization of the 5G network in the economy and society, prioritizing the use of the high-speed wireless network to improve government services and ensure healthcare access.

 

Deputy Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan has presided over a video conference of the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund, joined by the Minister of a Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn, along with the fund’s management committee members.

 

The committee has given the approval for campaigns endorsed by the selection subcommittee to receive funding from the Digital Economy and Society Development Fund, with a particular interest in the utilization of 5G technology to improve government services and promote access to healthcare.

 

These campaigns include the establishment of a telemedicine center, the setting up of the 5G network for smart city management, a pilot project on digital farming through the farming of barramundi and Phom Nang seaweed in Songkhla Lake Basin, a pilot project on government services enhancement using the 5G network, and the utilization of 5G connectivity for the screening and notification of the general public in Phuket of its tourism reopening.

 

On this occasion, Gen Prawit urged related agencies to closely supervise and monitor the progress of these approved campaigns, which should align with the proposed timeframe and achieve the objectives.

 

He said the funding of these projects must be transparent, and said that the campaigns must yield concrete outcomes in terms of improved services, better healthcare access, and the promotion of equity.
