Sure is a very long verdict reading...how much longer is it going to take?

Anybody know what as been said so far?

It's going to be a while. At the moment they're going through the entire chronology of events.

A few token scapegoats found, some punishments handed out at individual levels, both parties admonished, but neither banned.

/edit: This is a prediction, I'm not actually watching it now.

Brilliant. Make the verdict so complicated that it is open for interpretation. Imagine the guys geard up for some trouble making starting discussions on what the ruling actualy means - a monti python set. Anything is better than violence on the streets.

I wonder what drives all these politicians. Do they really want to be found innocent so they can continue on doing good for the country? Do they really believe they are innocent-both sides? Is it that they just can't wait to get back to being a politician? Has their income gone down so much that they want to get back into skimming from government projects? Most of these guys have money. Why wouldn't they want to just get out of politics? Does getting convicted hold the prospect of other crimes of theirs being investigated?

OK, it looks like they first they read the charges, then the defence, which the second judge to speak is now doing, then the verdict {by a third judge?} for the democrats and then the same process for the TRT issues.

I think

Cant seem to make much sense of it but the Nation says 'The Constitution Tribunal ruled Wednesday that the Democrat Party had not breached the MPs and Senatorial Election Act because the act had lapsed after the coup.'

On the same basis TRT should escape a dissolution too.

but remember that this is only one of the charges (might be 4 against Democrat?) other charges are still being read.

so even if the first applies to TRT, there are other charges against them too which have not been given a verdict.

but yes sure is darned boring.....even for someone who speaks fluent thai I have a hard time understanding (but more so concentrating) :o

could go on until after 5...might be best to make my way home before any chaos decide to happen :D but seems the only group talking about trouble is the military? hmmm

and the winner is:
your list is incomplete.

NO PARTY WILL BE DISBANDED - this is known since the early morning.

but individual punishments.

therefore scenario 8.

At least one party has been dissolved, and so far no verdict has has been given on TRT's status.

Hold your celebratory wine gum.

Do you people understand whats going on here?

The junta is trying to disolve all major oposition ahead of the next elections so the have NO opposition.

No matter what...democracy is majority rules and the junta knows this.

If there was FREE ellections tomorrow TRT would win hands down.

So whats the problem guys? scared the Thai people will acheive freedom and power?

<snip>

Men with guns should not rule Thailand

Anything is better than this

The Constitution Tribunal ruled that the Thai Rak Thai did not have enough political ideology to remain as a political party and had committed wrongdoings warranting dissolution.

The court also bans Thai Rak Thai's executives from holding political office for five years.

The tribunal found that the Thai Rak Thai-led government dissolved the House to help its party leader Thaksin Shinawatra over his personal problems.

The judges found that Thaksin had power over party's ideology.

The judges found that the political problem stemmed from the party leader's personal problems.

The judges ruled that the Thai Rak Thai allowed the election to be abused as tool for the party leader to try to monopolise power.

The tribunal also found that the party did not attach importance to elections and did not have political ideology to help the people to have well being as promised during election campaigns.
