ASEAN NOW Posted September 13, 2021 Share Posted September 13, 2021 Stormy weather last evening severely damaged houses in Phonephai Village, Salavanh District, Salavanh Province. At after 10 p.m. last night, a storm blasted through the community, causing extensive damage to inhabitants' homes. Some homes were entirely demolished, while others lost their roofs and fencing, and trees were blown over, scattering debris throughout the region. The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued storm warnings in recent days as Tropical Storm Conson makes its way from the South China Sea to the Vietnamese coast. Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to relocate their family and possessions to higher ground and prepare for flooding. Parts of Laos have already been flooded, and the tropical cyclone is anticipated to make things worse. On Friday, the Namheuang River in Kenthao District, Xayaboury Province, breached its banks, forcing inhabitants to flee due to rising flooding.
