It was always obvious that my eldest granddaughter preferred girls from about eight. When she was 11, she came out to her parents. She’s now 19 but, to my knowledge, has never had a steady squeeze. I feel accepting of this fact and am curious to meet any girlfriends she may have. (I’m certain they could not be more outrageous than I!) Her parents support her in ways I feel are a bit overbearing. Baking her a rainbow b’day cake, taking her six hours’ drive to the nearest Pride Parade. It’s, to my mind, a little too much support that isn’t really, really support. Herself is what she is, nothing more and nothing less. We don’t do any of that for straight kids. My grandsons are apparently straight. Would I be as accepting of them if one turned out to be gay? Do I regard gay differently than I do the L-word? I'm a little bit more iffy about boys. Not sure as it hasn’t happened (yet). What I’m curious about is whether kids have experimentation and then switch teams. How often might this happen? I don’t care, but I am curious. Believe me, it’s hard enough have far away grandchildren. I definitely don’t want far away great-grandchildren! Which means, I don’t need any more heirs to pass along the family name. Bottom line is that gay men and women do pretty much the same things in bed I do. And I bet you do, too! So it's not really an issue.
