BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government stated on Wednesday that all target groups will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the year, while booster shots are planned for certain groups this year and others next year.

 

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said it is expected that almost 60 million COVID-19 vaccine doses will have been administered by the end of October, with between 700,000 and 800,000 doses being administered daily at present.

 

He said those who have already received both shots of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine will be get a booster shot of AstraZeneca by the end of this year as well. The booster program is scheduled to begin on September 24th.

 

Mr. Anutin said the government plans to procure about 100 million more doses of vaccines for booster shots for all target groups in the first half of next year, adding that the COVID-19 vaccination situation should improve a lot next year as more vaccine choices will be available, while prices are expected to come down as well.

evcellent news, sounds like they're cracking on with the vaccination programme despite the slow start. would be interesting to know what percentage vaccinated would be required before they will remove the many layred process to enter the country.

I thought that all 'targetted' groups had already been vaccinated?

The Government and their friends and families.

The senior army officers and their friends and families

The senior police and their friends and families

Hi So's and their friends and families.

Owners of big businesses and their friends and families.

All front line workers including some 'imposters'.

Have I missed anyone out?

Except for the people who have registered and payed for Moderna 

I read some Moderna coming in, in October some time most likely the rest next year.

Sure. Just don't ask what everyone has been injected with. Then boosters you can enjoy squeezing 5 doses out of 1 vial in an experimental skin injection procedure. TIT.

Not in my book.

And some provinces are pushing for 1st Oct, or 1st Nov opening. More conflicting bull dust. And what tourists want to come here with all of these conflicting stories floating about. ??????? One hand doesn't know what the other is doing.

I think October is before the end of the year.

All vials have 5 doses. 6 if a specific syringe is used. This is true worldwide. Not everything is an opportunity to deride Thailand.

So unlike most countries, Thailand has target groups. Most countries have populations of different age groups, as well as certain groups like Medical, Police, and other front line people who have to deal with the public, who should have some priority.  How ever in Thailand, the priority groups are just a bit different.

The Elite and rich and powerful people first. The top one third of the military second. Then the medical and police and other front line people later.  I guess that should be expected in a developing country.

This is not true. Not all, because a lot of people will not get it. Some in-laws are refusing to get vaccinated. They said they will not. They are just plain afraid to get a vaccine.

 

All target groups of people who want the vaccine will get it. They say.
