BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai government aims to transform the country and to reach five targets under the 13th national economic and social development plan, to be implemented from 2023 to 2027.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said, during an online seminar titled "Mission to Transform" held by the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), that the country first needs to restructure the production of its goods to conform to the needs of the digital economy. It must place importance on research and development.

Secondly, he said the country needs to develop human resources to keep up with rapid digital changes.

Thirdly, the plan places emphasis on the importance of giving equal opportunities and being fair to people.

Fourthly, the country needs to focus more on environmental conservation and ways of handling the effects of global climate change in a comprehensive and sustainable manner

Finally, the country needs to prepare for any future global challenges and issues.

Meanwhile, NESDC secretary-general Danucha Pichayanan said the implementation of the 12th national economic and social development plan, from 2017 to 2022, is likely to miss its target due to problems related to the spread of COVID-19.

Too right, they are currently in the bracket 'critically insufficient' under this regime !

They have had 6 yrs to develop the Country and move Thailand forward,  but instead they have put the Country back 10 yrs,

Goal #1.  Fill the trough.

Goal #2.  Only allow pre-approved people access to the trough.

Goal #3.  Create useless projects to keep the trough filled up (e.g., space agency, reorder submarines)..

Goal #4.  See goal #1.

Goal #5.  See goal #2.

The red lipstick clashes with the purple top. ????

Ill I read was blah blah blah de blah blah blah. The rest didn't make much sense ????

The people have a new plan every couple of months. I don't even have to look at any of the details to know it will fail. They have such short attention spans.

'The hub of new plans.;... well someone had to say it!

This isn't a plan at all......it is a verbose list of aspirations. A plan should have who-does-what-by-when, not some airy noises....'the sound of wind and <deleted> from an idiot signifying nothing'.

A lot of fancy words there, last 6 years has proved most of them to be empty.

This bunch of Gangsters will continue to put the country back until it reaches the Dark Ages; it's up to the people to rid themselves of this Cancer and bring them down....soon !

Why 2023?  As George Allen used to say, 'The Future is Now'.  As always, slow, slow, slow.

A plan can be a list of intentions. Eg. I have a plan to water the garden tonight. I plan to go shopping later, but have no !ist of things to buy.

And 2023....the future is further away than you think...Heinz Wolff

In July he highlighted 7 point plan to develop the country. Today he shrank that down to 5 goals and omitting the garden variety plan for corruption free, reform the police and military. Can you take this man seriously?

from the photo, it looks as if he has a politically correct "Robertsons Jam" badge on his shirt below the gold medal!

Balderdash ( thought that the b word I was thinking of might have upset the TV police ), good as these intentions might be there is no chance that any will be progressed during this corrupt parliament.

The first priorities should be, to completely restructure the public education system from pre-school through to university, to design syllabuses for subjects necessary in the international modern world. Not subjects like "Thainess" and such other abstract dreams. They can learn Thainess in the Temples at the weekend. They should reduce the amount of sport that is pursued in school time. I am keen on sport and played a lot of sport as a teenager in my own time. Sport is good but it has to be run alongside formal lessons.

The other priority is Corruption! Even more difficult than Education. But no pussy footing around, it needs to be attacked by a Strike Force of immense power, where would they find that? I have no answer to that, not the Police Force nor the Army, Navy  and Airforce. UN? I think that they have too much on their plates at this moment. They are crippled at the moment as Russia and China have the power to block any decisions the democratic members want to make.

If an anti-corruption drive is ever started it will take more than 7 years to complete, more likely it will take several generations and more than 100 years. The corruption in Thailand is accepted  by a vast majority of the Thai population as it is all they have ever known like several generations before them. They need to learn that a lack of corruption will enhance the country, benefit Thailand financially and individuals thus will have more money in their bank account. Thailand's status in the world will be much higher and I suggest more of a better class of tourist will want to enjoy the charms of Thailand.

As I am almost 78 I do not expect to witness these improvements, and I unfortunately expect that if I lived as long as Methuselah I still would not witness any progress.

Well for one thing Thailand sure could use a real elected government, as the one in Power

sure was not.  Coups should be outlawed by the highest most powerful families in the country.

The military should lose at least half of the top heavy generals.  I am also too old to be alive to

see anything in this country change, except maybe for a real elected government once again.

I miss the Kingdom of Thailand, at least then the generals all seemed to get a time at the top

of the heap, so s to speak.  I am just lamenting on a few thoughts,   TIT  so carry on.

Geezer

CREATE ONE PLAN AND STICK TO IT FOR 5 YEARS

One thing Thailand certainly does not have is a lack of human resources.  What Thailand does have is an elite class who have zero interest in providing a well rounded, complete education to serfs for whom they would have enormous problem if not only could they tink too mutt, they hopefully would be able to engage in high quality critical debate on socio-economic, political and general discussion about what would be best for the people not the few in charge.

I would love to see a drastic change in Thailand's education system the youth deserve it and not just this archaic Thailand-centric rubbish
