September 27, 20214 yr Popular Post Recently moved to a new place ( new to me but old in reality ) and the power went off to some plugs. Using the useful test screwdriver I started at the breaker box and by process of elimination took the plug socket off the box on one, only to find that the wires had been removed on purpose from the plug socket ( the wire hole screws were screwed in all the way ) and the live wires were left exposed; not even a bit of tape on them. Just a minute movement must have seperated the two positive or neutral wires and all the other plugs on that circuit also died. All I can say about that is that I am grateful for what I learned on this sub forum about doing electrical stuff, and didn't have to pay large for an electrician to do such a simple fix. So thank you to Crossy and the others that contributed to my electrical education.
