In previous years I've always worn a cycle helmet when riding a motor scooter around Phuket - partly because the lids supplied with hire scooters are next to useless, and partly because the push-bike ones are light, comfortable and ventilated. It's never been a problem at road blocks and I've noticed that quite a few expats/tourists do the same thing.

 

So, my question is - is this still okay or have the cops clamped down on this in the last couple of years?

If you have to wear something on your head then why not wear something decent. Like a quality mc helmet.

 

They'll get you past the police...........but, not a serious head injury.

Thanks for the advice - this is how I used to dress to ride, but it would look a bit silly down beach road on a PCX!

 

I'm not a risk-averse person, although to some folk that would mean I'm stupid.
