Car insurance while waiting to renew license

Featured Replies

I have been trying to renew my license now for several months. It expired in late August. I know that the government has extended the grace period . To renew to late December, But there has been no information about whether the insurance companies continue to provide the coverage. I have not been driving. What have other people done about this situation. Finally I have an appointment for October 15, and I am looking forward to being able to drive with certain  insurance coverage.

The few people I know telephoned their 1st class voluntary car insurers to ask the question all of which confirmed they are still covered under the govt amnesty pandemic situation.

They asked them to confirm by email.

If you only have CTPL it doesn't matter but you still need to renew the DL when it's possible.

Just did one, another due November, one December, one January.

All done online.

Inspection stations can have the CTPL renewed if they have the book and can inspect the vehicles.

If you have voluntary insurance on the vehicle they can renew CTPL.
