BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's economy should improve further in the final quarter of this year thanks to government support measures and September's relaxation of coronavirus curbs, a deputy prime minister told businessmen on Thursday.

Thai PM concerned over shooting of police officer during last night’s protest

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed concern for a police officer who sustained serious injury when he was shot during a protest by the “Talugas” group at Din Daeng intersection last night and has ordered that the injured officer be given close medical care, said Government Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonchana today.

Bangkok’s riverside communities warned of rising waters in Chao Phraya River

Residents of 11 riverside communities in Bangkok, located outside the protective flood walls, have been advised to track the water situation in the Chao Phraya River closely, which is expected to rise by 30-50cm over the next 3 days.

Digital Economy and Society Ministry, police expedite suppression of online offenders

BANGKOK, 7 October 2021 (NNT) - Online shopping has surged because of the COVID-19 situation, but some shoppers have had the misfortune of receiving faulty items or being defrauded outright. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society is now working with the Royal Thai Police and online platforms to improve the 1212 hotline service for receiving complaints relating to online issues, in hopes of expediting the suppression of online offenders.

MICE Operators Ask PM For Resumption of Related Businesses

BANGKOK, 7 October 2021 (NNT) - MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) related businesses submitted a letter to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday, requesting the government to further ease restrictions for the industry and allow their businesses to resume by next Friday, 15 October.

Phuket Vegetarian Festival takes to the streets, without face piercings

PHUKET: The first street procession of this year’s Phuket Vegetarian festival was held this morning (Oct 7) as devotees and Ma Song spirit mediums from the Naka Shrine in Wichit trvelled to Saphan Hin back back, riding in the back of pickups and on the back of flatbed trucks.

Heavy rain forecast for most parts of Thailand, 14 provinces warned of flash floods

People living in Thailand’s central, lower north-eastern, eastern and southern regions have been warned to brace for heavy rain in the next 24 hours, which may result in flash floods in some areas and overflowing rivers, due to the influence of a strong south-westerly monsoon looming over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand and an atmospheric depression in the central South China Sea, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
