Normally I work pretty long hours but every now and then I like to take an afternoon off, find a place to watch the world go by and have a few cold ones.

Where's a good people watching spot in Bangkok with, preferably, cheap beer?

I'm no fan of Khaosan Road but other locations in and around the downtown area would be alright. Areas less frequented by foreigners, as long as they are reasonably easy to get to are OK too.

Try the Beer Garden. It's about 70B for a beer.

The Cat House in Nana Plaza charges 50B/beer during happy hours (4PM-8PM). You can also avail the drink all you can option during happy hours for 400B.

Nipped into the newish paddy pub in the Nana last week ..thursday (T holiday) and the barman told me that they were doing a promo (dont know for how long) and the beer was 99 bt a pint... ...that day/night it was Heine...but other days etc...

Seems not a bad boozer and heard later that they have a roof top lounge .looking straight into the NEP meanthinks.......next time
