ASEAN NOW Content Team
According to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, the Indonesian government has agreed to shorten the necessary quarantine period for international travellers, both Indonesian nationals and foreigners, from five to three days. In a press release, Xinhua quoted Hartarto as saying, "This rule applies to international travellers who have met the requirements, including being fully vaccinated and negative for Covid-19 based on PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test results since their departures, after their arrivals in Indonesia, and at the end of the quarantine period." Domestic travellers who have been completely vaccinated, on the other hand, must present negative antigen swab test results or PCR testing for individuals who have only received one vaccine dose. The Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia is mostly under control, according to Hartarto, as the number of cases continues to drop. During a press conference on Monday, Tourism Minister Sandiaga Uno revealed that Indonesia is proposing the development of a vaccinated travel lane (VTL) with Australia. Visitors from 19 countries have been allowed to visit Bali, which is known for its emerald rice terraces, Hindu temples, and white-sand beaches. China, France, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates are among them. Currently, the Southeast Asian country is attempting to rebuild its economy while anticipating the arrival of the pandemic's third wave, which is scheduled to come around the long Christmas and New Year vacation seasons.
