James Peiris
I have successfully used the X 96 mini Android TV box for over 6 years. Lately some apps keep stopping. When I retry..the message is "app has closed" I wish to take it to a Technician in the Chiang Mai area. I also understand that there is a gray line in the use of this kind of box and there may be reluctance for any technician to service such units. The person who sold me the box is no longer in Chiang Mai. He did use a technician in Chiang Mai on certain occasions. Please recommend a technician for corrective action in the Chiang Mai area Thanks very much

Lite Beer
Try resetting it to the day it left the factory and loading the apps again.

stratocaster
In the last couple of months I noticed my andriod box freezes. The download bar is still active so it is not a internet problem. I then realized it is only happening with 4K programs. As the box is 5 years old I assume the processing power is no longer sufficient.

It is likely that your box is running an old version of Android and that your apps have not been updated or are no longer supported. How much memory (RAM and ROM) does your X96 have? (Turn the box over and this information should be printed on a label underneath the box) If it is a 2G RAM and 16G ROM model it may be possible to reset and restore the box to factory settings. See here for how to do this. If you are currently running Android 7.12 Nougat OS it is possible to flash the firmware to enable your box to run the Android 9.0 Pie OS. See here for how to do this. You can then either update your apps or add new ones from sources like Google's Play Store or APKResult
