Thai Pass – tested and passed with honours

Returned to Thailand on Tuesday 7th Dec and I just thought I would share my experience.

Flew Manchester to Bangkok via Dubai

Emirates check in was slow and they wanted to see all documents relating to the Thai pass (PCR test result, insurance etc.) – but no request to see onward flight (which I had) even though I was “visa on entry” and my return was 60 days).

The flight was as expected (both flights pretty full and somewhat late) but as an aside I would say the meals were substandard for Emirates who I used to rate very highly in that area.

On arrival in Bangkok we were greeted by a long line of blue chairs where the entry documents were pre-checked (only really interested in the Thai Pass QR and the negative PCR). Next on to the formal Thai pass entry gate where again they only wanted to see the above two documents plus the flight boarding card.

Then on to immigration – I have been coming to Thailand for 10 years and never have I got through immigration so quick only one person in front of me!!!

After immigration on to the hotel tables in arrivals to register and wait for transport to the hospital for a Covid test then to the hotel for check in - I waited no more than 15 minutes for the transport – I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Sukhumvit 11 - the total package Pick-up, Covid Test, room and 3 meals cost me £100 (4000 Baht approx) and I usually stay in a hotel about 100 meters away for 700 Baht but when you consider that in the UK my PCR test cost £55 (more than 2000 Baht) I think under the circumstances the £100 wasn’t too bad.

I got my “No Covid Detected message” at 10pm. Stayed the night and the following morning got my certificate and set off for my destination.

All in all, a reasonably smooth and painless experience. 10/10 to all concerned.

Exactly my experience, especially at Dubai Airport, where they did not tell you that you cannot use the On Line Check In desks and must queue up as normal. The rest of it was smooth, and the hotel I stayed at, Elegant Airport, had a nurse come to take the swab at 6pm with result at 4am next morning for Bht 3900. Very pleased.

As a frequent travller one of the few positives of the last two years has been speed to be processed at airports has been so much quicker.
