Depent Of Spouse With Wp

I am american and my wife is from El Salvador.

My wife is working at an international school and I have a child studying at a different school.

My wife's current WP finishes up in September (passport expires and she is getting a new one). She has just been given a new one-year contract starting from August and the school will arrange for a new WP once she gets the new passport.

I want to apply for a non-immigrant visa as a spouse so I can come and stay/visit often (I work outside of Thailand).

What documents would be required to apply for such a visa.

Any experience in people getting a one-year multiple at embassies/consulates in the region in this situation.

If not, is a year-extension possible?
