Thai - Cambodia Conflict Thaksin Donates Drones to Bolster Border Patrols
Picture courtesy of InsideThailand Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has donated 10 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sets, worth a total of 3 million baht, to the Royal Thai Army’s Second Army Region to strengthen its patrol and self-defence capabilities along the border. The handover ceremony took place at 10:00 on 10 August, in the VIP reception room of the Second Army Area Headquarters. Lieutenant General Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the Second Army Region, received the equipment on behalf of the army. The donation was made by Thaksin, with an additional 50,000 baht in financial support from the 10th class of the Armed Forces Preparatory School alumni. The presentation was made through Pol Lt Gen Surasit Sangkhapong, Assistant Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, acting as Thaksin’s representative. Lt Gen Boonsin expressed his gratitude, noting the importance of the drones in current security conditions. “These UAVs will significantly enhance our patrol and surveillance capabilities, improve self-defence for our troops, and protect our borders for the nation and the people of Thailand,” he said.
