up2you2
Trying to replace some gas type hinges/struts, for my kitchen cabinet flap doors. But before I do, I need to know the specification details. Fully extended my present strut support measures 28cm - see attachments. From the top of the frame, to the half way middle point of the bottom of the strut fitting, it is 245Cm. On Lazada some items are coming up with a reference of say 100N(10kg) for example, no idea what this might mean, and what would be suitable for my door flap? The door panel Width 600-700 mm and Height 400 mm (as your kitchen) the weight is 3.1-3.6 kg [Not including the handle calculation table as attached. Then check power Factor (LF) = Height cabinet (mm.) X Weight (KG) Ex. 400 X 3.6=1440 --->20K2E01.02 (calculation table as attached) Just want to make sure, that when I'm ordering replacements, that they will be the correct ones please. Gsxrnz
You want 80N from Hafele. You can buy online or in shop. I have identically weighted doors to you and the 80N are perfect. 60N will be too slow on opening and probably won't get to the required height. They are dirt cheap so even if they don't suit you can buy the 100N. I tried the 100N on a slightly larger cupboard and it opened like gates at the start of a horse race and it needed Arnold to close them. EDIT: You can also cheat when you install them to get more/less speed and opening angle depending on how close you mount them to the hinge edge of the door or the jamb itself. I adjusted mine because they were a little slow and didn't open with enough angle. 5mm makes a big difference to the smoothness of their operation. This looks good, the kind of reassurance I was looking for.
bbko
I found this gas strut calculator on the net, seems like it might help, also if a gas strut has too much pressure, there's ways of releasing some of nitrogen (check youtube). https://www.weforma.com/gas_spring_calculation/editor.php
