MikeandDow Posted December 31, 2021 Share Posted December 31, 2021 I am just wondering about this 30baht medical system My friend (thai) is very ill has TB twice recovered, first time a while ago seemed to recover again was in hospital for a long time discharge from hospital all clear this was about 9 months ago over a period of time lost weight now like a skeleton has lost bowel control and slowly wasting away been back and forward to hospital now losing his balance, he collapsed was taken to hospital but was told to go home , the guy needs hospital treatment or hospice care, where he is looked after is there such thing ???? or does he just have to die at home alone Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Which in this day and age means he either refused treatment with antivirals or did not take them reliably. This is unfortunately common in Thailand due to perceived stigma. I'm not defending them but the hospital, which likely knows him well, may have refused to admit him because they felt there was nothing medically that could be done. Government hospitals do not provide custodial care. There are a few temple based hospice centers in Thailand. None run by government that I know of. Usually this sort of care is done by family.
