From Sunday (Jan 9) restaurants in Hua Hin and Nong Khae are set to stop serving alcohol at 9pm, in accordance with the latest disease control measures.

On Friday, Thailand’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that restaurants in so-called ‘blue zone’ destinations, which includes Hua Hin, Nong Khae and neighbouring Cha Am, can serve alcohol no later than 9pm.

Venues are also required tot have SHA plus or Thai Stop Covid 2 Plus certification and have established a COVID-Free Setting.

The same newspaper is now saying that alcohol cannot be served at all, not sure which version of their report is correct.

It says it’s a readjustment of the control measures, so I imagine the latter report may be accurate.

Yup 9pm should stop the covid spread. Cannot be spread during the day or up until that time. But between 9pm and midnight covid is rampant. Very very smart Govt. We are so lucky to have such great people watching over us. Amazing Thailand. Almost as smart a move as banning alcohol sales between 1 and 5pm in supermarkets. Pure genius.

can't stop the spread of covid but can curtail the infections caused by late night monger idiots jammed into keyhole bars.

because most will drink at home if the bars close at 9pm.

seriously, not rocket science, is it.

Bars are officially closed and according to media reports restaurants aren’t allowed to serve alcohol at all from tomorrow.

I do agree with your view regarding some of those who maybe had a little too much to drink being a tad too boisterous.

omicron, so far, has been a quick wave everywhere elsewhere in the world. hopefully the shut down will be short, the schools will stay open and we'll all be enjoying a cold one again within a few weeks.

How hard is it to simply start sipping early,  if you must.  I can see the Qs now forming at 1700 hrs...a sure sign you may have a problem.

Because you technically aren't allowed to drink before 5PM in the first place? Might as well stay later illegally then. Both rules / laws are complete nonsense obviously.

Mute subject now for a while.  7-11 and sipping surfside or on the balcony.  BYO always works, simply fill your Yeti, with your favorite tipple and you're all set while munching at favorite restaurant.

I actually do that quite often, whether vendors are serving or not, as they don't carry my brand.
