Understanding transgenders - ladyboy gets money for a wig after "being forced to have haircut"

Channel 7 news reported on the case of a ladyboy who was forced to have their haircut by a family member.

 

It caused much comment on Facebook.

 

Now a person by the name of Nara Crepe Katoey has transferred 10,000 baht to the transgender to buy a wig. 

 

Nara Crepe Katoey has a YouTube channel and Twitter presence.

 

The story was billed as transgenders understanding one another.

 

Katoey means a transgender who are often referred to as "sao praphet song" - #2 women in Thai.

These countries where 'family members' are automatically granted huge powers over other adults need to have a good hard look at themselves.

You could do that, but you would probably find yourself unable to take full advantage of all the benefits brought by close families ties here and find yourself living a poor quality of life.

It's quite simple, poor countries tend to have a very weak social safety net, so families are forced to look after each other.  If you are responsible for the young until they are well into adulthood, you get more of a say in how they behave.  This is one of the main reasons that the West is in such a miserable situation socially, the government forces people to look after the needy but gives them no say in how they behave.  I.e. do bad things - get free money = poor social outcome.

Not sure what “the West” contains but if we look at certain European countries which arguably have the most advanced social security systems, they’re doing fine both economically and socially, and I am not sure if any of those European citizens would prefer to live in Thailand instead.
 

Of course every country has its small share of uneducated losers who interestingly complain the loudest while contributing the least but leeching the most.
